Product Features:
Sonicare’s technology is designed to deliver superior results.
The Sonicare toothbrushes are inspired by dental equipment and therefore create dynamic fluid cleaning action. It works like tiny, but powerful waves, dislodging plaque that isn’t normally reachable by a manual brush, nor the oscillating or rotating movement of other power brushes. In fact, Dynamic Fluid Cleaning Action can actually make it easier to clean plaque below the gumline
The bristles on a Sonicare play an important part too. Their high velocity movement creates the Dynamic Fluid Cleaning Action, and allows for direct contact with each tooth. Sonicare’s bristles are also designed to be extra gentle on teeth and gums.
The first time you use a Sonicare, you’ll notice that the cleaning technique feels entirely different than any other toothbrush. Now you’ll know it’s because it cleans in a way that is completely unique from any other toothbrush.
A Brief History of Sonic Technology
Sonicare toothbrushes were brought to market by Optiva Corporation in the late 80s. Royal Philips acquired Optiva in 2000 as part of the product division Domestic Appliances and Personal Care. Since its inception Sonicare has grown from a small entrepreneurial venture capital company to become a global manufacturer of a successful consumer and dental
professional proposition in electronic toothbrushes which is now the power toothbrush brand most used and recommended by dental professionals.
About Programmable Quadpacer
Programmable Quadpacer works like the Quadpacer feature by providing signals at 30 second intervals (30, 60 and 90 seconds for a 2 minute brushing cycle) to indicate that you should begin brushing the next quadrant of your mouth. It is programmable because it allows you to extend the brushing time by another 30 seconds so that you can focus on problem areas.
How it Works
The Programmable Quadpacer feature allows you to adjust the Quadpacer performance in 1 of 3 ways:
To change the Quadpacer settings:
• | Green LED in position 4; Quadpacer active (factory default setting). |
• | Green LED in top (5th) position; 2 1/2 minute setting – Quadpacer active with additional timing interval of 30 seconds. |
• | Yellow LED in bottom (1st) position; no timing intervals set -Quadpacer not active. |
Benefits of the Quadpacer
Programmable Quadpacer is great for targeting those troublesome areas that require more conscientious brushing (typically suggested by your dentist or hygienist). It not only ensures that
you are giving each area of your mouth the oral care it needs, but you are also devoting extra time to any problem areas.
About Deluxe Recharge Gauge
On models that include the Deluxe Recharge Gauge, anytime the toothbrush handle is charging, the green charge indicator LEDs will blink in a rising pattern. The relative height of the pattern
indicates the battery’s approximate percentage of charge.
When the battery reaches full charge, the blinking LEDs are replaced by a steady glow of the entire LED array. About once per minute, the charge indicator LEDs extinguish momentarily and then restore to a steady glow. This indicates that the battery is being maintained at full
charge. The full charge indication will persist until the handle is removed from the charger base.
The blinking yellow LED indicates that fewer than 3 brushings remain.
Benefits of the Deluxe Recharge Gauge
You will always know the exact charge status of your brush. While it is recommended that you keep your Sonicare in the charger base when not in use to maintain a full battery charge, the Deluxe Recharge Gauge allows you to only charge your brush when it needs it. This feature comes in handy if you share a charger base with others or when you want to take your toothbrush with you and leave your charger base behind. A fully charged Sonicare typically provides 14 days worth of brushing, allowing for twice daily 2-minute brushings.
About Smartimer
Smartimer is the automatic shut-off feature in your Sonicare brush that helps encourage you to brush for 2 minutes, which is the dental professional recommended brushing time.
How Smartimer Works
It’s simple. After 2 minutes, your Sonicare shuts off. If at any time during brushing you momentarily stop the brush to rinse or apply more toothpaste, the Smartimer pauses its timing so that you can pick up where you left off.
Although 2 minutes is recommended for optimal results, you can always stop or restart the brush at any time by pressing the power button. Whenever the handle is placed in the charger, the Smartimer automatically resets to ensure a full brushing cycle the next time you use it. The Smartimer also automatically resets itself if you stop your Sonicare toothbrush for longer than 45 seconds.
Benefits of the Smartimer
Dental professionals recommend brushing for a full 2 minutes of brushing, twice a day, to fully clean your teeth. The Smartimer makes brushing for 2 minutes easy to do.
About Easy-start
Because the sensation created by Sonicare’s dynamic fluid action is so unique, Sonicare has a feature that let’s you get accustomed to it over the first 12-14 uses. All Sonicare models come with the Easy-start feature activated, which helps you adjust to brushing with Sonicare.
Brush Heads: How They Work
The Sonicare brush heads are specially designed to create dynamic cleaning action through sonic technology. Unlike other brands, Sonicare has created brush heads that provide 6 months of effective cleaning. So while they may be more expensive than competitors’ replacement brush heads, remember that you only need to purchase them twice a year.
Brush Head Benefits
Sonicare is the only powered toothbrush with an angled neck offering better reach for a better clean. All Sonicare brush heads are gentle on teeth and gums. And you can put a lot less pressure on your teeth and gums than you used to with a manual brush. The Sonicare Elite and Essence models have an extra gentle bristle design. Their precise combination of soft, extra-soft and super-soft end-rounded bristles ensure deep, yet gentle cleaning.
The Importance of Replacing Your Brush Heads
Brush heads are extremely important to the effectiveness of your Sonicare. Recent studies show that after 6 months of use, a Sonicare brush head becomes less able to clean the plaque from your teeth. That is why we recommend replacing your brush heads every 6 months, regardless
of whether they show wear.
